Elderly and disabled return to Port Arthur apartment complex after Harvey

All 202 units at the complex were forced to leave due to the storm.

PORT ARTHUR — Residents of the Crystal Creek Apartments in Port Arthur were out of their homes for months after Harvey. The people who lived in all 202 units were forced to leave due to the storm.

Most of the tenants at this particular complex are elderly and or disabled.

A spokesperson for the complex says that people were allowed back in their units in February after the damaged flooring and cabinets were replaced.

One senior citizen at the complex says that she is happy to be home and the storm has changed her attitude about life.

"Just the outlook of life itself," said Lydia Hopson. "It was rough going through it because at my age, I thought I would never have to re-start."

Hopson says that her unit received more than a foot of water but she's happy to be back and put the past behind her.
