BEAUMONT, Texas — As winds start to shift from the north to the south, more clouds, and the chance of rain will increase throughout Southeast Texas.
Light showers will be a possibility for the middle of the work week, but only a 20% coverage of rain looks to fall. Rain chances/coverage will increase ever so slightly for Thursday, but the thing that will be the most noticeable are the temperatures. Highs for Wednesday will yet again be in the middle to upper 50s, but on Thursday, Southeast Texas will return to the lower to middle 70s!!
While the warm temperatures will continue into Friday and Saturday, and rain chances will increase. A 50% coverage/chance on Friday will evolve into an 80% coverage on Saturday (that will likely be a 100% coverage, but just playing it conservatively right now). What will spark that rain on Saturday is a cold front, and behind that cold front, temperatures will drop quite a bit.
Low temperatures on Sunday and Monday morning will be flirting with the freezing mark within the Golden Triangle. North of Highway 327 (so, say including and north of Silsbee and Kountze) will likely fall below freezing on those given days. With breezy conditions around as well (especially for Sunday morning), wind chills have the opportunity to be in the lower 20s. Think about making the proper preparations if you live along and north of Highway 190, as those areas have the best chance of seeing temperatures in the 20s for a little bit of an extended period of time.
With all of that said, high temperatures will be above freezing (and above 40°, for that matter), so it isn't like SETX won't warm up through the day. By Tuesday morning, temperatures will be returning back to normal for both highs and lows, and unfortunately, more light rain is possible.
Last note- there is no winter precipitation expected over the next week.
