NEW ORLEANS — A freeze warning is in effect until Tuesday at 8 a.m. for areas north of the lake and in Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. John and St. James parishes.
Tuesday morning brings some of the coldest weather we've had since February.
Temperatures will fall to around 37 degrees south of the lake where frost could form. Lows will hit around 28 degrees north of the lake with a light freeze. Remember to protect plants and pets all across the area.
After a frosty Tuesday morning, look for lots of sun and highs near 56 degrees Tuesday afternoon.
High pressure will shift east midweek which allows us to warm up a bit Wednesday. We'll start the day near freezing north of the lake and near 40 degrees on the Southshore. Highs tomorrow return to middle 60s.
Our next rain system and cold front arrive Thursday. Expect showers, clouds and a breeze with temperatures in the 60s. Rain totals look like a half-inch to one inch.
The system clears us by Friday, and we'll get cooler and overall nice weather Friday through the weekend.
