Hot, dry and mostly sunny Thursday!

Though it will be mostly dry with lower humidity, it will still be hot in the mid 90s.

NEW ORLEANS — Starting out with lower humidity Thursday afternoon is a nice treat! It will be a dry, hot and mostly sunny day. With humidity low it will still be hot with highs in the mid 90s. A coastal shower is possible, but most stay dry.

By tonight and Friday moisture starts to slowly return. This means we could see one or two showers Friday, but it now looks like most stay dry with more heat in the mid 90s.

We'll continue to see heat, humidity and hit-or-miss rain through the weekend. Highs will stay in the mid 90s with heat indices over 100. We stay in this pattern through much of next week.

Eye on the Tropics:

Don't get fatigued focusing on two areas in the Eastern Atlantic and over West Africa. Plenty of time to watch, if anything even happens. Closer to home, we look to remain quiet for the next 7+ days.

NOAA has also released their updated outlook for the rest of the Atlantic Hurricane Season, even with the 5 named storms we've already had, they have slightly increased the totals to 15-21 (up from 13-20), 7-10 hurricanes (up from 6-10) and 3-5 major (no change). Of course this tells us nothing about landfall, it does tell us NOAA is still expecting the peak months to become very active after a slow previous three weeks. All we can do it take them one at a time if/when they threaten us.
