A wreck involving an 18-wheeler carrying a hazardous load shut down Interstate 10 just west of Highway 365 in west Jefferson County for about an hour and a half Tuesday afternoon.

Eastbound lanes remained closed for the entire time while westbound lanes reopened after an hour.

The wreck happened about 3:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the interstate west of 365 and involved 18-wheeler tanker truck that was carrying a load of Sodium Hydroxide according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

None of the chemical or diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway according to the sheriff's office.
