Beaumont woman hit, killed on Hwy. 69 in Port Arthur identified

The 31-year-old woman was from Beaumont

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Police have named the woman killed on Sunday while walking on Highway 69 in Port Arthur. 

Catherine Leday, 31, from Beaumont was struck by a vehicle and killed in the 5100 block of Hwy. 69. 

The crash is still under investigation. 

Hwy. 69 was closed for several hours from Jimmy Johnson to the cloverleaf as police investigated. Those who signed up for STAN alerts got the first notification at 4:14 a.m. A second notification came through at 8:47 a.m. that all lanes of Hwy. 69 were back open.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Details: The individual that was struck and killed on 1-19-20 while walking in the 5100 blk of HWY 69 has been identified as Catherine Leday, Blk/ F 31 yrs of age. Leday was a resident of Beaumont TX.

This Incident is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division with the Port Arthur Police Department.
