BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police have identified a man killed Wednesday morning after being struck by an 18-wheeler.
Police responded to the scene in the 1200 block of Interstate 10 East near MLK Parkway since just after 4 a.m. according to a news release from police.
The man was struck while trying to cross the interstate according to Jefferson County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Ben Collins.
He's been identified as Kelly June Grogan Jr, 51, of Beaumont.
An autopsy has been ordered by Judge Collins.
The Beaumont Police Traffic Unit is investigating this crash.
The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation according to police.

At 6:40 a.m. traffic was backed up nearly four miles into Rose City.

Beaumont Police are working an auto pedestrian accident in the 1200 block of I-10 East near MLK. Westbound traffic is completely shutdown at this time and is being diverted at the Pine Street exit. You will be able to get back onto I-10 East from the service road and expect delays.
BPD Traffic Unit is investigating the accident. The pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer at approximately 4:06 this morning. The driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation. We will release the name of the victim pending identification and notification.
On Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 4:06am, Beaumont Police responded to a crash involving an 18 wheeler and a pedestrian. Witnesses advised a man was struck by an 18 wheeler when he attempted to cross the 1200 block of IH-10. The man died on scene and was later identified as Kelly June Grogan Jr, a 51 year old Beaumont man. Next of kin has been notified.
