BEAUMONT, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a multi-vehicle wreck that occurred on Monday.
The wreck happened on Interstate 10 near the Boyt Road exit. Troopers believe that at 12:30 p.m. multiple vehicles were traveling east and had to slow down because a trailer caught fire, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety release.
A 2016 GMC SUV was speeding and hit the back a 2012 Ford pickup which lead to a chain reaction, according to the release. Other vehicles involved included a 2021 Jeep SUV, 2020 Toyota passenger car and a 2016 Acura passenger car.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The driver of the 2016 GMC SUV was cited for failing to control her speed.

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10, just west of the Boyt Road exit, today, August 1, 2022.
The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 12:30 p.m., multiple vehicles were traveling east and slowed due a trailer catching fire on the improved shoulder. It is reported that a 2016 GMC SUV failed to control its speed and struck the rear of a 2012 Ford pickup, which then caused a chain reaction. Other vehicles involved included a 2021 Jeep SUV, 2020 Toyota passenger car and a 2016 Acura passenger car.
There were no injuries sustained during the crash.
