BEAUMONT, Texas — For most young athletes in the 409, baseball and football are a way of life. Then there's Evadale's Bryce Taylor.

For years, Taylor often passed on the opportunity to take part in what is called the most dangerous eight seconds in sports. But that all changed in the summer of 2014, when his Aunt Beth passed away after a battle with cancer.

Now, after riding competitively for five years and to honor her memory, the McNeese State commit qualified for the National High School Rodeo Association Finals in Rock Springs, Wyoming after finishing in the top-four at state in Abilene.
