BRIDGE CITY, Texas — With their 5A Area Round playoffs series shifted from Crosby to Bridge City due to dangerous weather overnight, Nederland felt right at home as they swept state ranked Angleton (22-7) at Chuck Young Field.
The Bulldogs (20-9-2) were fueled by solid pitching in both games. Conner Kemp went the distance in game one, striking out five Wildcat batters along the way to a 4-0 victory.
Jacob Mares grabbed the win in game two, striking out six. Noah Gregory was able to slam the door for the save in the series clinching 3-0 win.
The win sets up a showdown with Mid-County rival Port Neches-Groves next week. Nederland swept the Indians this year (5-2, 5-0).
