BEAUMONT, Texas — When the dust settled Tuesday night, a total of ten local volleyball teams were still alive in the Area Round of the UIL Playoffs.

So far the round has not been kind to the 409 with Deweyville, Evadale, West Hardin, Sabine Pass, High Island and Spurger all being eliminated. The few bright spots so far have been Lumberton and Chester. The Lady Raiders advanced to the Regional Quarterfinals with a sweep of Brazosport, while the Lady Jackets took down Oakwood in four.
