East All-Stars make it three in a row at the 5th Annual CHRISTUS All-Star Football Classic

Blaysin Fernandez (Nederland) was named East Offensive MVP

BEAUMONT, Texas — Fernandez went 7 of 10 for 167 yards and two touchdowns, including a 26-yard strike to Port Neches-Groves Jose Ceja, while leading the East to a 17-7 victory over the West Saturday night.

Demarcus Coleman of Westbrook claimed the East Defensive MVP, while JJ Slack of Liberty was the West Offensive MVP and Michael Lockett of Woodville was named West Defensive MVP.

After going ahead 3-0 in the first minute of the second quarter, the East combined for three interceptions and a late touchdown from Fernandez to Ceja to take an early halftime lead, 10-0.

The West would try to get things going after Slack (9 of 18, 85 yards) fired a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kordell David (four catches, 39 yards)of East Chambers to cut the lead to three. 

After the West missed a 35-yard field goal, Fernandez went deep and found Jalen Davis of Silsbee for an 82-yard touchdown to seal the game, 17-7.
