Martin Luther King Jr. Day events in Southeast Texas

Celebrations will be held across Southeast Texas on Jan. 21 to celebrate MLK Day.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Communities will be gathering together on Monday to celebrate MLK Day in a variety of events.

  • The MLK Billboard Rally/MLK Service will begin at Mt. Zion Church in Orange at 11 a.m.
  • Beaumont's annual MLK Day parade has been postponed, and is rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019. The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. at Lamar Institute of Technology (at the corner of University Drive and East Lavaca) and ends at King Middle School.
  • Port Arthur will have its 33rd annual MLK Brunch at the Bob Bower Civic Center on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. The guest speaker for the brunch is Dr. David Harrison of First Church Heights in Houston. 
  • Jasper's MLK Day parade will be begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at Greater New Bethel Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Jasper. The parade will head west on MLK, then south on Main Street, south on Bowie and west to Bulldog Avenue. The parade ends at Jasper High School. A program will be held at JHS following the parade.
