LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Two young girls given a 'Shop with a Cop' certificate chose to donate one of their gifts to a neighbor who won’t receive many Christmas gifts.

“We gave her $50 with ‘Shop with a Cop,’ because she probably was only going to get one present,” said 9-year-old Ava.

“So we wanted to give her family money and her money,” added 7-year-old Alivia.

That event matched about 150 kids with first responders from 10 agencies and military service members.

Alivia and Ava’s gift goes to Annalise, a 10-year-old neighbor.

“I’m really happy that I got to do this,” Annalise said, as she hugged an armful of toys.

“It’s a hard year, this year, so we just appreciate it. It’s great,” said Janice, Annalise’s mom. “And every little bit helps.”

Ava and Alivia’s grandmother, Danette Scott, said it was all the girls’ idea.

“I was blown away. It was super touching,” she said.

Scott said her granddaughters recently moved in after bouncing around to four different schools this school year, but even through that, they continued to share.

“For me, it embodied the spirit of Christmas,” said Scott.
