From a moving funeral at St. Martin's Episcopal Church to a remarkable show of respect as Texans lined the train route carrying George H.W. Bush to College Station, Texans said goodbye Thursday to Houston's president.

After a deeply moving ceremony at the George H.W. Bush Library, President Bush was laid to rest next to his beloved Barbara and their daughter Robin.
"The 41st President of the United States of America, George Herbert Walker Bush, has reached his final resting place," spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted.
McGrath also tweeted more images late Thursday from the private burial service showing Bush's family and his daughter, Doro, receiving the flag that was draped over his casket.

Farewell, Mr. President
It was an amazing sight as 2,300 members of Texas A&M Corps of Cadets lined the roadway as the presidential motorcade carried Bush 41 and his family to the burial sight.

Moments after the Union Pacific train carrying former President George H.W. Bush passed by, onlookers scrambled to the tracks to pick up a piece of history. Many placed coins on the tracks to create their own souvenir for a day one Texan called an "experience of a lifetime."

11:35 a.m. A motorcade is now taking George H.W. Bush to Spring, where he will ride on 'Locomotive 4141' to College Station.
The train, which dons the colors of Air Force One, is expected to leave at 1 p.m. and arrive in College Station at 3:25 p.m. It will travel through Spring, Tomball, Magnolia and Navasota. The train won't stop, though it will travel slower than normal through each town.

Bush is one of eight presidents to take a train to their final resting place. The others are: Abraham Lincoln (1865), Ulysses Grant (1885), James Garfield (1881), William McKinley (1901), Warren Harding (1923), Franklin Roosevelt (1945), Dwight Eisenhower (1969).

Oak Ridge Boys perform 'Amazing Grace'
The Oak Ridge Boys, of which President George H.W. Bush was a big fan, performed 'Amazing Grace' during Bush's funeral service. "What a lot of people may not know is he fancied himself to be a good bass singer," Joe Bonsall said. "He was not."
The group first sang for Bush on the White House lawn in 1983 when he was vice president.

"Undoubtedly, when the last words are written on him, they weill certainly include this: the fulfillment of a complete life cannot be achieved without service to others," grandson George P. Bush says of his grandfather.
James Baker pays tribute to his longtime friend
James Baker III, one of President George H.W. Bush’s closest friends for 60 years, said he’ll forever remember Bush as a friend and role model. Baker began his eulogy by apologizing to his long-time friend for bragging about his accomplishments in his 94 years.
Baker called Bush one of the nation’s finest president and “beyond any doubt the nation’s best one-term president.”
Although Bush wasn’t considered a skilled speaker, Baker said, Bush’s deeds were eloquent and that he “demonstrated their elegance by carving them into the hard granite of history.”
Baker said Bush believed “humility toward, and not humiliation, of a fallen adversary was the very best path to peace and reconciliation.”
Baker said that one of the things Bush liked most about him was that Baker always told Bush what he thought, even when Bush didn't want to hear it. Baker recalled he and Bush having spirited conversations, and when Bush thought the conversation was over, he would tell Baker, "Baker, if you're so smart, why am I president and you're not?" Baker recalled.
Baker ended by saying, "We rejoice, Mr. President, knowing that you are safely tucked in now ... with God's loving arms around you, because our glory, George, is to have had you as President and such a friend."

Dozens of celebrities, sports figures and community leaders arrived Thursday morning to honor President George H.W. Bush, including Arnold Schwarzenegger; Jim "Mattress Mac" McIngvale; Houston Texans J.J. Watt; Astros greats Nolan Ryan, Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell; Rockets Dikembe Mutombo and Yao Ming.
Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale remembers George H.W. Bush as a man who set the bar for all Houstonians to live by.
Astros greats Nolan Ryan and Craig Biggio, both Hall of Famers, remember George H.W. Bush as a huge sports fan who loved his Houston sports teams.
Astros Owner Jim Crane said Bush was instrumental in helping the Astros win Game 5 of the 2017 World Series. It was a back-and-forth affair with the Los Angeles Dodgers that the Astros ultimately won, 13-12, in extra innings.
"He helped us when that fifth game, he threw out that first pitch," Crane said.
