Buna woman found injured along Highway 12 dies, investigators seek information

Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

ORANGE COUNTY — A severely-injured Buna woman found on the side of an Orange County highway has succumbed to her injuries. A spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety Monday identified the victim as Jessica Renea Talmadge, 29, of Buna.

According to the DPS, troopers were called just after 7 a.m. Saturday to an area of Highway 12 near FM 1136 in Orange County. The caller said there was an injured woman on the side of the westbound side of the road. The woman, later identified as Talmadge, had severe injuries and was taken to CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Doctors were not able to save her life. She was pronounced deceased early Monday.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

DPS Troopers and the Criminal Investigations Division of the Orange County Sheriff's Office are working together in the investigation. As of 1 p.m. Monday they are still trying to determine how she was injured and how she ended up on the side of the road.
