UPDATE FROM BISD: Classes will resume on Tuesday, November 7th for students attending King Middle School and Fletcher elementary school at their home campus. We have received information that a boil water notice will be in effect for both campuses. As a result, we are taking additional precautions. Hand sanitizer and bottled water will be available. Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided for all students using boiled water. We understand that parents may have additional concerns and desire for students to remain at home, therefore absences for students not in attendance will be excused.
A water main break in the Avenues Neighborhood of Beaumont has prompted the district to move students from two schools for the day.
Crews from the City of Beaumont are working on fixing the break at the intersection of Orange and Blanchette Streets about a block from the King Middle School campus.
Students from both King Middle School and Fletcher Elementary School, which is about four blocks from the water main break, were transported by bus to other Beaumont Independent School District campuses according to the district.
King students were taken to the Ozen High School Jackson Center and Fletcher students were taken to South Park Middle School according to the district.
King Middle School parents who regularly pick up their children via car can pick them up from the Jackson Center at their normal dismissal time of 4:05 p.m. according to the district.
Buses will transport students who normally walk home from King back to their campus to walk home.
Fletcher parents who regularly pick up their children via car can pick them up from the South Park campus at their normal dismissal time of 3:25 p.m. according to the district.
Buses will transport students who normally walk home from Fletcher back to their campus to walk home.
The district is considering the day to be a normal day so parents do not need to pick up students early according to the district.
