Police report: Man attacked by Pitbull in Orange, received 'severe lacerations'

Police were called to Third Street, where they found a man with blood on his face, holding down a dog.

ORANGE, Texas — A man received 'severe lacerations' to his face and other injuries after police say he was injured by a Pitbull that attacked him on Saturday night.

Police were called to the 1200 block of Third Street about a dog attack and found a man holding down a Pitbull according to a Orange Police report. The man had blood on his face and told police he needed medical attention according to the report.

The man had 'severe lacerations on his face, left pectoral, left arm and left calf,' according to the report.  First responders were called.

Several family members were in the front yard, and a leash was put on the dog.

Police told the man to get off the dog, and the two officers had tasers 'at the ready position' according to the report.

The man stood up and released the dog, and the officers fired the tasers at the dog 'to prevent further injury' to the man 'or the other family members.'

One of the officers' taser prongs hit the dog, and the dog was 'immobilized in time' for the man to get away.

He was taken to the hospital.

The dog was taken by an animal control officer.
