Port Arthur firefighters Monday morning continued to pour water on the smoldering German Pellets Texas silo at the Port of Port Arthur after it collapsed over the weekend.

The silo fell shortly before sunrise on Sunday. The pellets began smoldering on April 15, and continue smoking 51 days later.

Port Arthur city spokesperson Risa Carpenter Monday told 12News there were no new developments to report. She released a statement Sunday saying no injuries were reported from the collapse.

Carpenter said the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is participating working with local members of the Incident Command structure. She said TCEQ responders are actively conducting visible emissions and odor surveys within the adjacent neighborhoods and also responding to citizen complaints within the TCEQ jurisdiction.
