ORANGE, Texas — An early-morning house fire last Saturday in Orange County left a couple and their six children homeless.
Ana De La Cruz, her husband and their six kids were out of state visiting family when they got a call about the home being burned down, De La Cruz said.
She said their home is insured, but the vehicle that was badly burned is not. The family is thankful that their dogs got out before the flames consumed everything in their path, De La Cruz said.
De La Cruz's son, Miguel Molina plays for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School basketball team as a center.
De La Cruz said her son has dreams of playing college basketball. She said she believes the family's loss will be difficult for the kids.
"My six year old son tells me that he wants to come and play over here, but when we pass by, he says he doesn't want to look," De La Cruz siad.
There's a GoFundMe for the family to help for necessities like clothes, food, and temporary housing. Donors have already raised about $1,100.
