No injuries after World War II era plane forced to land west of Beaumont after engine failure

Neither the pilot or his passenger were injured when the plane made an emergency landing near Major Drive and Interstate 10.

BEAUMONT — No one was injured when the pilot of a World War II era plane was forced to make an emergency landing in a field just west of Beaumont.

The pilot of the Nanchang CJ-6 Chinese fighter plane told deputies that his engine failed forcing him t the land in the field near Major Drive and Interstate 10 just before 11 :30 a.m. according to a post on the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Neither the pilot or his passenger were injured according to the post.

Beaumont police officers, firefighters and medics also responded to the scene the post said.

The scene was taken over by the officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety who are securing the scene until officials from the FAA arrive.
