Nederland High School seniors pick up caps, gowns for graduation

Although Nederland ISD has only announced tentative dates for graduation, students were still able to pick up their graduation swag.

NEDERLAND, Texas — Seniors across the world are missing out on traditional end-of-the-year activities, such as graduation and prom. However, some Southeast Texas high schools are adjusting to a new reality in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although Nederland ISD has only announced tentative dates for graduation, students were still able to pick up their graduation swag. Nederland High School held their drive thru cap and gown pick up on Thursday, April 23, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Parents drove through the bus loading area located near Spurlock on the side of Nederland High School.

Officials asked for all passengers to remain in the car upon pick up. Students should have their student ID’s ready to present to staff. The school also asked for students to pay their balance in full before picking up their items.

Nederland High School has set tentative dates for their 2020 graduation. As of April 13, the district scheduled graduation for May 28, 7 p.m. at Ford Park Arena.

If rescheduling is needed, the district has back up dates of June 23 or July 21 at 7 p.m. at the Ford Park Arena.

The district said plans for project graduation are pending as well.
