Vidor motorcyclist killed in Orange County collision

The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Texla Road about two miles west of State Highway 62.

A Vidor man lost his life Friday morning in an Orange County collision. The accident happened around 10 a.m. on Texla Road about two miles west of State Highway 62.

Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephanie Davis told 12News Mark Everett Powell, 30, was riding a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle west on Texla. He rear-ended a 2017 Chevrolet pickup that had slowed to make a left turn into a private driveway.

Powell was pronounced deceased at the scene by Orange County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Judge Derry Dunn. The driver of the Chevrolet, a man from Orange, 39, was not injured.

Texla Road remained closed until 12:30 as first responders worked the scene.

No other information has been released by the DPS. The accident remains under investigation.
