Attorney Michael Truncale has been nominated to be a federal judge in the Eastern District of Texas at Beaumont, and the nomination has been sent to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

The attorney at the Orgain, Bell and Tucker Law Firm in Beaumont has also served as a regent in the Texas State University System, and was the Texas State Republican Executive Committee member for Senate District 4 for four consecutive terms. He ran an unsuccessful bid for the 14th Congressional District seat in 2012.

Truncale has been on the board of the Gift of Life, the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, and the Family Services Administration. He has been the president of the Houston Opera, the Beaumont Heritage Society and the Symphony of Southeast Texas.

He got his bachelors degree at Lamar University in Business Administration in 1978 before later being graduated from Southern Methodist Law School.

Truncale has mediated more than 2,000 cases as an attorney.

There is no time frame set for when the U.S. Senate could consider or confirm Truncale for the post now held by Chief District Judge Ron Clark.
