Lamar student takes passion for writing to another level

He began writing his new book 'Briskwood Blood Rain' 2 years ago. The book hits the shelves on tomorrow which is just weeks before his college graduation.

BEAUMONT — 22 year old Christopher Joubert is a Beaumont native, a full time student and now he’s a newly published author.

"It kind of just started as something out of boredom, so actually seeing a finalized product right here is pretty crazy to me," Joubert said.

He began writing his new book ‘Briskwood Blood Rain’ 2 years ago. The book hits the shelves on tomorrow which is just weeks before his college graduation.

"It's an apocalyptic thriller that’s set in a movie theater. The rain turns red one day and transforms people into these creatures," Joubert said.

The movie theater in the book was inspired by on that’s right here in Beaumont, Tinseltown.

"I was at work one day bored, looked around and was like this could be a pretty cool location for a movie or a book or something like that. I feel like it hasn't been done so I decided to just do it myself," Joubert said.

Once he graduates Joubert will begin a job in Houston, but says that isn’t stopping him from writing new stories in the future.

"Depending on the success of it, if there's a demand for it I’ll definitely consider that. I definitely want to travel, I’ve been traveling a lot recently and seeing the rest of the country and maybe the rest of the world, that would be a great dream of mines," Joubert said.
