KILO 2019 'A Walk to Remember' honors fallen service members, families, veterans on Crystal Beach

The walk was led by Ken Meyer, a veteran who marched 628 miles across Texas "to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress and veteran suicide prevention."

BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas — Gold Star Families, veterans, active military and others joined together for a seven-mile walk along Crystal Beach Sunday morning to "come together in solidarity to both remember those we've lost and to demonstrate our commitment to walk strong beside our wounded service members."  

The event description on Facebook invites those interested to "walk beside Gold Star families, veterans, active military, and military supporters."

The walk was led by Ken Meyer, a veteran who marched 628 miles across Texas "to raise awareness for Post Traumatic Stress and veteran suicide prevention" according to the event Facebook page.

Jeeps and other vehicles drove alongside those walking seven miles along the beach to honor those who died while serving the U.S. in the military.

Jeeps lined Crystal Beach on May 26, 2019, for the 2019 KILO Walk to Remember. The event is designed, and involves an "emotionally charged trip down Crystal Beach where we come together in solidarity to both remember those we've lost and to demonstrate our commitment to walk strong beside our wounded service members."
