BEAUMONT, Texas — The Salvation Army of Beaumont has announced its participation in the Walmart Round Up program, which will give Southeast Texans a chance to support community members in need.

This program makes it possible for online shoppers to round up their purchases and support The Salvation Army.

This new opportunity is a part of Spark Good, which is Walmart’s giving initiative, according to a news release from the Salvation Army of Beaumont.

Customers shopping at Walmart.com or in the Walmart app will now be given the option to round up their total at the point of purchase to the nearest dollar.

That change could be donated to the charity of their choice, which includes The Salvation Army.

During the month of March, Walmart will be matching customer donations 2:1 and awarding some nonprofits a $250 grant, according to the release.

Major Fagan of The Salvation Army in Beaumont says they are grateful for the ongoing support from Walmart and encourages shoppers to participate in the Round Up Program.

"These round up donations really add up can help make a difference in the local community. Every amount, no matter how small can make change in the lives of so many," Fagan said.

The Salvation Army of Beaumont offers a range of local programs and services that include emergency financial and material assistance, emergency shelter, and after-school and summer day camp programs, according to the release.

Fagan says the ongoing support of the community and corporate partners makes it possible for them to help those in need all-year round.

“Your support means The Salvation Army is there with a hot meal or food box for a family experiencing food insecurity, to hand a cup of coffee or cold water to a first responder working during times of disaster, and provide a listening ear and encouragement for someone feeling lost and without hope," said Fagan.
