Five shot, one killed at Beaumont club

Beaumont police are investigating a shooting at the Rumba Club located at 3684 College Street.

The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. A witness told 12News at least five people were shot.

Beaumont Police Department Spokesperson Officer Carol Riley issued the following statement Saturday morning:

Saturday, December 09, 2017 at 2:11 am, officers responded to 3684 College St. Suite B in reference to a disturbance at Club Rumba.

Witnesses told officers a fight broke out inside the club and continued in the parking lot. Multiple subjects retrieved firearms and began shooting at each other. Five people suffered gunshot wounds. One victim, Ronald Livings, a 27 year old man, was transported to Baptist Hospital by private auto and died from his injuries. One 26 year old man was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth and taken to surgery. The other victims were treated and released with non- life threatening injuries.

The investigation is still in the early stages. Detectives are still taking statements and are trying to locate witness that left the scene without speaking with officers.

Club Rumba has issued a statement in reference to the shooting last night.

Rumba would like to extend our deepest condolences to the attendees of last night’s private event and for those who were affected by the tragic events which transpired in the adjacent parking lot after closing. Club Rumba was rented out for a private rap concert on Friday night and was not hosting a typical Latin event. As always our customer’s safety remains our top priority. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected. Thank you.
