Family of missing Newton man hoping for new lead in disappearance

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the family of 56-year-old Randy Holmes are hoping for new developments in his disappearance.

Betty Holmes is dealing with one of the worst things a parent could go through.

She fears that her son, Randy Holmes may not be coming home after disappearing in November.

"I feel pretty down because I feel like it's been too long. And I think it was retaliation for things that he had been into," Holmes said.

But the exact cause of his disappearance is what the Newton County Sheriff’s Office is working to find out.

Sheriff Billy Rowles says there are persons of interest in the case. Rowles thinks Holmes’ ex-girlfriend may have helpful information, although she is not a suspect.

"We got a phone call from some of her relatives who said they would have her here in the morning. Hopefully that can shed some light on this case," Rowles said.

Rowles says that foul play is suspected in Holmes’ disappearance.

"We've got information that Randy has been murdered, but we don't have any evidence to verify that," Rowles said.

Despite how difficult this case is for the Holmes family, they want the truth about what happened to Holmes said.

"You just can't get it off of your mind, wondering how he is, where he is, and surely, somebody knows something," Holmes said.

Anyone with information on Holmes’ disappearance is asked to call the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at (409) 379-3636.
