Family blames West Orange couple's death on accidental Carbon Monoxide poisoning

Misty and Johnny Buckley were found in their mobile home on Tuesday night.

WEST ORANGE, Texas — The family of a West Orange couple found dead in a mobile home on Tuesday said a heartbreaking accident led to the deaths.

The victims, Johnny and Misty Buckley, were apparently using a generator to power the home in Gresham Village and left it running over the weekend according to Gerald Rogers, Sr., Johnny's brother.

"We're just over here trying to pick up the pieces as best we can," Rogers said. "They left two children. A 9-year-old and a 12-year-old."

The family blames Carbon Monoxide poisoning for their deaths, after the couple accidentally fell asleep on Saturday night with the generator turned on.

West Orange Police have said they do not suspect foul play in their deaths.

Relatives discovered the Buckleys last night still in bed.

The couple's electricity had been turned off, because their bill lapsed.

Apparently the couple had been directing their money to the new bar they recently opened on Simmons Drive called the Sugar Shack.

"They apparently came in late from work, and they went to sleep," Rogers said. "The generator was running, and apparently the carbon monoxide overtook them while they were sleeping, and it ran until it ran out of fuel."

The Buckley's children are with relatives.

The funeral for the Buckley's will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Orange.
