ORANGE, Texas — Orange City Council voted to deannex property for a possible new plant.

Chevron Phillips requested that the property be deannexed from Orange since the city is one of the finalists for the company's new plant.

The City of Orange said it's doing everything it can to be a contender in the selection process. Deannexing the proposed land is the next step.

Mayor Larry Spears said it would be a "generational game changer" if the city is selected.
