Community mourns the loss of Beaumont father Anthony Wilson

Dozens packed Rogers Park for a vigil for Anthony Wilson. Police say he was shot by a group of teenagers over a week ago.

BEAUMONT, Texas —  Folks from all across Southeast Texas packed Rogers Park Friday evening to honor Anthony Wilson. He was killed after confronting thieves on April 11th. 

Kody Bluford is a longtime friend of Wilson and organized today's vigil.

"Anthony was a good dude. I've known him since about six or seven years old. He's always a positive guy. I wanted the community to really rally behind this and come together," Bluford said.

Those that knew him refers to him as 'little Ant'. His sister Davnee say that he was much bigger than his nickname.

"There was nothing little about him. He had big love; He had big kindness and he will forever be remembered as someone who big caring concern for his family and his community," Wilson said.

Police have arrested four people have been arrested in connection to the killing of Wilson. his sister-in-law, Alice, says it's bittersweet. 

"It's not just our family that has been affected, it's those families as well.  with those that were apprehended. so nobody comes out in a win in this situation," says Alice Grogan. 

As this family looks to continue to move forward, they say the community support has helped them heal.

 "It just shows what one community can get together and do when we put all of our issues aside and come together as one it can be a powerful thing," Bluford said.
