CHRISTUS Health announces closing of St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur

Hospital officials said in a news release that this is part of continuing the "legacy of delivering health care services to the entire Southeast Texas region."

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Officials at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System said they will be making a "major announcement," and discussed closing St. Mary hospital in Port Arthur Monday afternoon during a news conference. 

CHRISTUS is continuing to transform to meet changing healthcare needs in Southeast Texas, hospital officials said Monday in a news release.

Officials said the closure would be effective July 18.

"We intend to reallocate staff to other locations," St. Mary Hospital President Ryan Miller said during the news conference.

The closure will impact roughly 150 jobs and staff will be able to apply to any open positions or transfer within CHRISTUS to another location throughout the state according to officials.

The hospital is located at 3600 Gates Boulevard in Port Arthur.

CHRISTUS St. Mary hospital will remain open for the next 45 days until it officially closes on July 18 according to officials.
