Beaumont Animal Care shelter hopes to 'Clear the Shelter' in August

All adoption fees for cats and dogs at the Beaumont Animal Care shelter will be reduced to $20 on August 18 to help clear the Beaumont shelter according to a news release from the City of Beaumont.

BEAUMONT — The City of Beaumont animal shelter is hoping to adopt all of its current animals during the annual "Clear the Shelter" pet adoption later this month.

Beaumont Animal Care is participating in the national pet adoption drive sponsored by NBC and Telemundo owned television stations around the country.

All adoption fees for cats and dogs at the Beaumont Animal Care shelter will be reduced to $20 on August 18 to help clear the Beaumont shelter according to a news release from the City of Beaumont.

The shelter on average usually has about 40 cats and 85 dogs available for adoption according to Beaumont Animal Care supervisor Matthew Fortenberry.

All of the adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped before they are sent to their forever home according to the release.

The shelter is located at 1884 Pine Street in Beaumont and will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, the release said.

NBC and Telemundo stations are teaming up with hundreds of shelters across the country to host the adoption drive on Saturday, August 18 to help find loving homes for animals in need according to ClearTheShelters.com.

More than 150,000 pets have found their forever homes since 2015 according to the site.
