1 p.m. update: Reports on the scene say that an ambulance was seen leaving the area and neighbors are being allowed back in their homes. Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office officials are expected to speak soon.
METAIRIE, La. -- A JPSO deputy has been shot in the leg in Metairie.
According to sources on the scene, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy was wounded and a JPSO SWAT unit has been deployed in the area to search for the shooter.
A perimeter is being maintained and several roads are blocked near the area of Severn and W. Metairie Road.
