NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Department of Health has reported 2,814 deaths and 42,486 diagnosed cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, June 6.
31,728 people in the state have presumptively recovered from the disease.
A person is presumed recovered if it has been more than 14 days since they have tested positive and is not currently in the hospital, or it has been 21 days since testing positive and has not died.
LDH said the figure of presumed recovered will be updated weekly.
Reported cases have ranged from mild illness (similar to a common cold) to severe pneumonia that requires hospitalization. So far, deaths have been reported worldwide mainly in older adults who had other health conditions.
