Galveston County beaches back open Monday, will be 'actively monitored'

'If necessary, additional action will be taken if there is evidence people are not following the requirements of social distancing.'

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Galveston County's unincorporated beaches are back open to the public Monday after officials decided to close them for Easter weekend. 

Officials say the beaches will be 'actively monitored by the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management.'

'If necessary, additional action will be taken if there is evidence people are not following the requirements of social distancing,' according to a post from county officials. 

From a Galveston County Facebook post: 

The beaches will continue to be heavily patrolled by law enforcement to ensure social distancing requirements are being adhered to.

The unincorporated beaches will continue to be actively monitored by the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management (GCOEM) and if necessary, additional action will be taken if there is evidence people are not following the requirements of social distancing.
