BEAUMONT, Texas — Today Martin Midstream, American Ethane and a few other companies announced a $1.5 billion terminal will be built over the next three years. It’s expected to bring thousands of jobs to Beaumont.

Lauren Van Gerven is the market analyst at Workforce Solutions in Beaumont. She helps place people in positions across Southeast Texas, and this new expansion plan is making her job much easier.

"The construction industry is the third largest industry in Southeast Texas. Whenever we have a large expansion like this come to Beaumont, there are different phases within the construction part it,” Van Gerven said.

Also benefiting from the expansion plan are the students at the Lamar Institute of Technology. The President of the institution Dr. Lonnie Howard told 12news she’s confident recent graduates of the program are prepared for these positions.

"Our students are trained by some of the individuals who are professionals in the related industries," Dr. Howard said.

Those with skills in construction, welding, and pipe fitting will be lining up ready to go on Monday.
