Woman accused of stealing from her mother's bank accounts

Beaumont — Beaumont police say a woman stole more than $100,000 from her own mother.

Now, June Sonn has been indicted on one count of 2nd Degree exploitation of an elderly person.

Police say Sonn took expensive vacations and went on spending sprees with the money of her mother, who has Alzheimer's Disease. It allegedly started soon after Sonn was given power of attorney over her mother's financial accounts.

It was the suspicions of other family members that triggered an investigation by Adult Protective Services.

If convicted, Sonn could get up to 20 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.
