Sour Lake police officer who was attacked still in ICU, starting physical therapy

Officer McKeon is expected to have surgery tomorrow to remove screws from his lower jaw.

SOUR LAKE, Texas — The Sour Lake Police officer who was attacked and beaten on Memorial Day is still recovering and making progress.

The family of Officer William "Bill" McKeon says doctors are happy with his progress, according to a Facebook post for a benefit organized to support him.

He's talking, recognizing loved ones and consistently following commands, the post reported.

McKeon remains in the ICU, but he is starting physical therapy. His family is still asking for prayers from the community.

The suspect in his beating, Bradley Joseph Pruitt, 45, has been charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest.
