Seventh suspect in AT&T burglary, chase caught in Hardin County, eighth suspect still at-large

He apparently had not left the area where he was last seen according to police.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The seventh suspect wanted in connection with a Beaumont burglary and a police chase two weeks ago turned himself in while an eighth suspect remains at large.

Corey De’Vonte Isaacs, 26, of Houston, was arrested Wednesday night near Lumberton in connection with the January 10, 2019, burglary of the AT&T store on Dowlen road and a chase that ensued after Beaumont Police officers attempted to stop two vehicles believed to be involved with the burglary according to the Beaumont Police Department.

Police say Isaacs had been hiding in the area that three other suspects had been caught south of Lumberton for almost two weeks.

After giving himself up in Hardin County, Isaacs confessed to being involved in the AT&T store robbery two weeks ago according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

He also admitted to being the driver of the car that fled from police after the robbery police said.

A week ago deputies and police said they had "credible information" that he was in Houston but now have learned that there was an eight suspect and they now believe that is the suspect that is in Houston.

After the burglary was reported just after 4 a.m. by a 911 caller Beaumont Police officers spotted two vehicles that fit the description given by the 911 caller.

When they attempted to stop the cars both fled from officers and headed into Hardin County.

One of the vehicles lost control in Lumberton, coming to a stop in the grassy median of Highway 69 South, and four suspects fled on foot.

Three of the suspects were caught after a search that lasted several hours.

Police say one of the suspects attempted to steal another vehicle during the search and one may have been behind a bomb threat called in to a Lumberton school during the search.

Ricky Tatum, 25, Amari Alexander, 18 and Kevin Scales, all of Houston, were caught after the search in Hardin County.

Tatum remains in the Jefferson County jail where he is being held on a $260,000 bond for "engaging in organized criminal activity" and "evading detention with a motor vehicle."

Alexander and Scales were released on January 18, 2019, according to the sheriff's office.

The other vehicle continued to elude police until it spun out and stopped in Orange.

Two adults, Joesph Yarborough, 19 and Corde St. Jules, 17, both of Houston, were arrested in Orange along with a 16-year-old male according to police.

Yarborough was released on bond on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Scales was released on January 18, 2019, according to the sheriff's office.

Detective Jared Dupre, of the auto-theft task force, told 12News that police believe the suspects are connected to at least 50 other cases including auto-burglaries and thefts dating back to early 2018.

From the Beaumont Police Department...

On the evening of Wednesday, January 24, 2019, the Beaumont Police Department received notification from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, that the 7th suspect in the January 10, 2019 AT&T Burglary & subsequent vehicle pursuit, had turned himself in.

Corey De’Vonte Isaacs, a 26 year old Houston resident, had been hiding near the area that Tatum, Alexander and Scales had been taken into custody in Hardin County on January 10, for the last 13 days.

Upon Isaacs turning himself in, he confessed to his involvement in the AT&T burglary as well as being the driver of the white Cadillac that evaded Beaumont Police into Hardin County.

BPD Detectives had received information during the course of this investigation that the “7th suspect” was in Houston.

However, the investigation has now revealed that there were a total of 8 suspects involved in the burglary, the 8th of which is believed to be in Houston.

After turning himself in and speaking with Detectives last night, Isaacs (pictured below) was placed under arrest for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Evading in a Motor Vehicle.

He was then transported to the Jefferson County Jail. The investigation is on-going.
