Retired Louisiana deputy charged with stealing money from evidence

Troopers determined that Saul Wilson, 56, of DeRidder, illegally took money orders and cash seized as evidence while employed at the sheriff's office. Wilson then deposited the funds in his personal bank account.

A former Louisiana deputy has been charged with stealing evidence.

Saul Wilson, 56, of DeRidder, a retired Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Deputy, allegedly stole money orders and cash seized as evidence while employed, according to a statement from Louisiana State Police. Troopers discovered that Wilson then deposited the funds in his personal bank account.

Wilson charged with malfeasance in office and felony theft on August 13 and arrested and booked into the Beauregard Parish Jail August 14. His bond was set at $10,000.
