Port Arthur Police investigating Sunday night abduction of 6-year-old girl

Detective Hebert said the little girl was able to give officers information on the vehicle and the occupants.

PORT ARTHUR — Police are investigating the abduction of a 6-year-old girl from Rampart Apartments at 1728 Village East, according to Detective Hebert with Port Arthur Police.

The abduction happened Sunday night at 8:35 p.m.

At 8:55 p.m. officers got a call from concerned citizens about a child left alone in the 1900 block of Jefferson Drive. Officers found the girl that was missing at that location. She was alert and had no injuries.

Detective Hebert said the little girl was able to give officers information on the vehicle and the occupants.

Officers found a person of interest in the case and questioned them. They also found the vehicle described by the child.

Detective Heber said interviews are ongoing with all individuals in this case. He said there is no family connection between the victim and the possible abductor.

Police are treating the investigation as a child abduction.

At this time there is no known motive.
