34-year-old man killed in Friday morning shooting in Lake Charles

Police released the victim's name, asking the public to call with any information that may be helpful.

LAKE CHARLES, La. — The victim of a December 21 shooting has been identified as 34-year-old Howard C. Jones.

On Friday morning around 12:43 a.m., Lake Charles Police Department responded to call about a shooting in the 3400 block of Polk Street according to a news release. Police found Jones with numerous gunshot wounds according to the release.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he died from injuries. His name has not yet been released and police say the investigation is ongoing. The public is asked to call with any information.

The victim in this case been identified as Howard C. Jones, black male, 34 years of age, address: 1035 Alice Street, Sulphur, La. This investigation is still ongoing, anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Lecia McCullough at 337-491-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 337-439-2222.

On Friday, December 21, 2018, at approximately 12:43am, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to the 3400blk of Polk Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival Officers located a black male victim with numerous gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
