BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police are investigating after a 31-year-old Beaumont man shot and killed a man who he said hit him with a car during a disturbance Thursday night.

The man, who is cooperating with police, told officers he feared for his life when he shot the victim in the 4400 block of Flamingo Lane Thursday night according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Police got the call at 8:57 p.m. and when they arrived they found the victim unresponsive in his car which was on the front lawn of a home according to the release.

Medics responded to the scene to treat the man but he was deceased the release said.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim was intoxicated when the disturbance started at his home.

The victim was arguing and threatening people in the area and driving recklessly when he struck a pole according to the witnesses.

The 31-year-old man told police he shot the man after he struck him with his car according to the release.

The case will be sent to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office for submission to a grand jury the release said.
