One confirmed dead, one in custody after Beaumont hotel shooting

One confirmed dead in a shooting that was reported around 10:16 a.m.

BEAUMONT — One person is confirmed dead after a shooting Beaumont police are investigating a shooting at America’s Best Value Inn located at 1155 Interstate 10 South. Beaumont police are investigating.

Beaumont Police Department received a call of shots fired at 10:16 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Officers arrived on location to America's Best Value Inn to find the victim dead on the ground outside the inn next to a vehicle, according to police. The scene is currently being investigated and witnesses are being interviewed.

One person is in custody according to police. The person of interest and several witnesses were transported to the police station. Officers believe there is no further threat to the surrounding area.

Beaumont police identified the victim as Reginald D. Eaglin, age 30 from Beaumont about 3 p.m. Dec. 21.
