Deputies identify suspect in Wednesday shooting in Mauriceville

He was charged with three felonies including two deadly conduct charges and an aggravated assault with a firearm charge.

MAURICEVILLE — Orange County deputies have identified the suspect in the Wednesday afternoon shooting of a man at in Mauriceville.

Joshua Taylor, 32, was arrested by deputies after the Wednesday afternoon shooting and booked into the Orange County Correctional Facility where he is expected to be arraigned today according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Taylor was charged with three felonies including two deadly conduct charges and an aggravated assault with a firearm charge. and unlawful restraint according to the release.

The Orange County Sheriffs' Office received a call on Wednesday around 12:23 p.m. from a caller at the Texaco station in Mauriceville reporting a man had been shot in the lower leg.

Deputies responded to the Texaco at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 12, where the caller and victim were located according to the office.

The man ahd been shot nearby and went to the gas station to call for help.

Medics treated the 45-year-old victim and deputies searched the Greenwood Acres area and located Taylor.

The victim knew the Taylor, who was taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Correctional Facility.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday Taylor remains held at the Orange County jail on $177,500 in bonds.
