Body of woman found in middle of road in Orange early Friday morning

Orange Police found the woman's body in the middle of the road early Friday morning.

ORANGE — Orange police are investigating after a woman's body was found in the roadway in the early morning hours.

Officers responded to FM 1130 and South Teal Road after a woman was reported to be in the middle of the road Oct. 19 at 2:18 a.m., Orange Police said in a release.

Police said the woman had trauma to her body and she was dead when officers found her.

They identified her as Lisa Ann Lee, 48.

Orange Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. Captain Robert Enmon told 12News Lee was leaving a home she had stayed previously when she was struck. He was not aware of where she was headed.

Enmon said it did not appear Lee was pushed, or forcefully ejected out of a vehicle. They believe, based off of preliminary autopsy results, that Lee was hit by a vehicle around the height of a dinner table. He said maybe a Jeep or Truck.

Enmon said it's possible this could have been an accident.

"It's possible someone could have hit her and not known they hit her, or believed it was a deer or something."

He explained Lee was wearing all black, and walking in a dark area of the road.

Lee's daughter spoke to 12News off camera. She said she's trying to wrap her head around what happened, and that her mom leaves behind a lot of friends and a family that loves her.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help her family members with the funeral expenses.
