Police looking for 'person of interest' in murder of 38-year-old Beaumont man early Sunday

Officers arriving at the scene found a man dead, laying in the driveway outside a house in the 1100 block of Houston Street.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after Beaumont man was fatally shot early Sunday morning. 

Beaumont Police officers found the body of Gustavo Sanchez, 38, of Beaumont, on the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Houston Street according to a release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Police released Sanchez's name on Tuesday.

Police are looking for Sergio Romero as a "person of interest" in the case and have asked for the public's help in locating him.

Romero may be driving a black Chevrolet Silverado with license plate number FYR-4234.

The shooting happened at 2:02 a.m. May 24 near Houston Street and Milam Street, Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow said in a news release. 

The investigation is still ongoing and details are limited at this time, Morrow said.
