Beaumont Police investigating Sunday night shooting in city's south end

Neighbors told 12News they saw a man, who appeared to be wounded, being taken away by ambulance.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Police in Beaumont are investigating after at least one person was injured in a reported shooting Sunday night.

Officers responded to a report that someone had been shot about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night in the 200 block of East Virginia St. according to Beaumont Police Department dispatch records.

Neighborhood residents on the scene told a 12News crew that they had seen a man, who appeared to be wounded, being taken away by ambulance.

Multiple evidence markers could be seen spread out along the street and in a yard at the scene of the shooting.

Officers and crime scene technicians were working at the scene until nearly 12:30 a.m. according to dispatch records.
