BEAUMONT — A Beaumont man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with a Saturday shooting in Beaumont's north end.
Beaumont Police arrested Angel Ramirez Marquez, 66, of Beaumont, who is now being held in the Jefferson County Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated assault family violence according to jail records.
Ramirez's bail is set at $100,000 and he is also being held on a hold for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement according to jail records.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 4600 block of Ironton Avenue on Saturday at about 7:15 p.m. after a caller reported that one family member had shot another and then fled according to police.
When officers arrived they found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound and learned that Ramirez, who knew the victim, had fled on foot with several weapons according to a news release.
Offciers set up a perimeter and searched unsuccessfully that evening for Ramirez.
Officers learned that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between Ramirez and the victim according to the release.
The victim was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and was in critical condition according to police.
